If someone were to
ask me what do I love to do in my spare time....? Well I could actually give
them a whole list. I truly do not do very much, on a regular basis I like to
hang out with my friends, of course text; listen to music, and EAT ALL DAY EVERYDAY!
One thing over rides all that lately however... Lately, I have been reading in
my spare time.
When
I was younger my grandmother and my mother (as well as other adults) always encouraged
me to read in and out of school. So once I picked up on the habit I never really
stopped. I love to read mainly because, that is how I learn. I learn new words,
read about other people’s lifestyles, become a better reader, and also stay
occupied in a positive manner. I am one of very few people out of my friends
that like to read in their spare time.
From my standpoint I
think reading outside of school improves my comprehension, word pronunciation, and
vocabulary. For me, reading is important, because every time I read a book that
is good I keep reading it and I also read it faster just so I can know what
happens at the end. I use that same technique in school so that in case I am
being timed to read something and answer questions, like on the OGT practice
tests, then I can read quick enough and answer the questions.
I love reading which also inspired me to write my own
short stories when I was younger. I have always loved to write songs, poems, sometimes
scripts, and even type up meaningful papers. Reading is a huge part of me and I always send a big thank
you to EVERYONE who helped me when I was just learning how to sound out words!
